Apalus Hair Straightener Brush Review

I had announced back in October that I ordered and would provide a review of the Apalus Hair Straightener Brush. To my surprise it took a little longer than I had expected to arrive. I had ordered through a website, but somehow the lines of communication got crossed with the person who contacted me about it. Apparently, I was supposed to order through her directly and NOT the website. She should have been a little more clear about that. To my surprise after I ordered it, the packaage arrived from China! I was like dang it, really?!! It was then I suspected that I might not have received the actual Apalus brush. But as usual; life got busy and I didn't have time to deal with it. So it got put away until a later date and time.

So here we are in February and I decided to finally try this thing. On Saturday, I got my hair permed and was annoyed to wake up on Sunday with bed hair (yes, I had my head covered) and my hair bunched up in the back sticking up going in every direction except the one I need. Hubby tells me I toss and turn a lot, and my hair sure looked like I was all over the place that night. Looking in the mirror perplexed at the fact my hair no longer had that "just from the salon" look anymore (that was very short lived) I wanted to fix it. So I pulled out my Apalus brush (or so I thought) and here's what happened.

I'm reading the instructions on how to get started and I noticed a lot of grammar and spelling errors and I'm scratching my head thinking this can't be right, but kept on going. I turned on the brush to my desired temperature per the instructions. The temperature can be adjusted in intervals of 5 degrees which was really nice. I was a little surprised that it didn't make any noise. I thought it wasn't working at first. For some reason I expected it to make a blowing noise like a blow dryer. I felt it and realized that it was getting warm and the temperature gauge was counting up until it got to my desired heat setting. Then I just started to brush my hair as normal. I started using small sections, here are my results after only a few passes through my hair.

I was actually impressed with the fact that it only took a couple of passes to straighten the hair. It is very easy to use and doesn't take much time. I adjusted the temperature setting a few more times and completed the rest of my hair. The most annoying thing was, that my hand kept pushing on the temperature buttons causing it to either go up or down a few times and I had to constantly reset it. It would be better if the buttons where NOT on the handle of the brush or there was a way that once the desired temp was reached, you can long press the buttons to HOLD the setting until you turn it off or long press again to adjust the settings.  Here is the final result of brushing my entire head with the brush. It also has a safety shutoff after 60 seconds.

Per the instructions you can bump, twist and add a little curl or body with the brush, but my hair was too short to accomplish all that. I would expect ladies with longer hair could try that. I really liked how quick and silky smooth it made my hair. I've tried several products to try to straighten my hair and by far I like this one the best. I want to try it again after I wash and air dry my hair, as this is when it's the most frizzy. Stay tuned for update pics in a week or too.

OK so here is what my brush looks like. Seriously it looks almost exactly like the original product. I found the Apalus brush on Amazon and wanted to compare the differences. They are identical except mine says "Fast Hair Straightener" on the handle and the original product says "Apalus" on the handle. In addition, the original Apalus came with a few additional accessories like a travel case -- which I would have loved.  If you decide to try the Apalus brush, I would definitely order it from Amazon.
